In-Tune: Angina P.

Style: Electronica

"Having suffered throat pain chronically, Vienna-based producer Angina P. took her name from the medical term for her condition. She is a production force whose stylings may be seen as an evocative combination of breakbeat, new age, and atmospherics. Her first contact with electronic music came in the early 90s upon her introduction to the Amiga computer. She spent most of her time playing games with the sole purpose of getting to the next level of the game in order to hear whatever music underscored the pixelated action. At some point in time a keyboard came into her posession - she programmed her very first measures with it and the minute it ran out of memory, she began longing for more brawny instruments she would eventually obtain..." - Angina P.

Since forming they have DJ'd and performed live around London and the Home Counties at numerous clubs and events. In-Tune: Venue

Style: Electronica

"Venue creates an expressionist soundtrack that sounds like rerouting rock through a video camera. The outcome feeds on the motion and drive of dance music while still paying homage to the traditions of the pop/rock song structure. Capitalizing on electronic music's inherent ability to evoke the sublime through pristine synths and impossibly perfect time structures, Venue also embraces their own human shortcomings reworking their recorded mistakes, glitches and layers of "first takes" into the final output. The result is a new hybrid of commanding structure and honest emotion–the proverbial ghost in the shell – a consistant theme throughout the audio and visual elements of the band's performance. The new album One without a Second is a combination of music, technology, design and style– a collage of electronic soundscapes that land somewhere between the driving rhythm of future forward electronic music and the unknown territories of new technologies' uncharted stylistic waters. It's what might happen if Boards of Canada produced a Girls Against Boys record. Thematically, lyrically and emotionally themes of attraction and aversion are explored. The collage of fidelity, technologies and media lend themselves to this theme by mimicking the patchwork in which this duality exists around us. Accepting the responsibility that an artist/musician today has more opportunities to create a unified expression, Venue places equal importance on their visual aesthetic as they do their songs. A series of video and design elements coexist alongside each audio project and can be seen throughout their visual identity on line, on paper and on screen during live performances." - Venue

In-Tune: Dosage and Uses

Style: Electronica

"In 1998 in El Paso, TX, I began modestly with some friends by forming the band SLEX, playing an eclectic brew of hardcore guitar with dance-beat style live drums. Soon after, "creative differences" caused half of SLEX to break away and form AISLING. Around the same time, I began to become increasingly intrugued by Electronica, and began digging deeply into the endlessly suprising world of electronic music. After remastering and tweaking several songs I had written over the years, I began working on new material to create a buffer of music from which I could begin weaving an album, in several songs drawing on my background in guitar to add a human touch to the mechanical madness. My focus on intricacy of melody versus rhythm, combined with a rock-like song structure allow me to continually challenge myself. Not one to use preset sounds, I prefer to create my own patches and instrumentation and effect samples beyond recognition, with very few exceptions. With an increasing interest in sampling and naturally occuring aural textures, the future can only bring more intricate and engaging results." - Dosage and Uses

In-Tune: Keith Merrill

Style: Electronica

"The music of Keith Merrill will transport you to a place of the soul, a place of light and sound. Through the paths of the mind to memories long forgotten, and to places never before seen. Keith Merrill is a classically trained musician and an up and coming composer. His music combines the best elements of classical music and electronica, with a mix of ambient and techno influences. With major musical influences such as Moby and Rob Dougan, the music of Keith Merrill parallels the paths they have created; while he blazes his own path through the overgrown jungle of melody and sound." - Keith Merrill

In-Tune: Revolution Void

Style: Breakbeat Jazz

"Revolution void is the music project of 21-year-old Jonah Dempcy. Jonah began revolution void at the age of 12, using a home studio with a computer and keyboard. Initially, revolution void was an electronic music project. But, over time, Jonah began experimenting with improvisation (Jonah grew up playing by ear on the piano) and the sound of revolution void developed into electronic-jazz. Instead of playing songs, Jonah mixes loops on the fly to create new material for each performance, continous from start to finish, like a DJ mix." - Revolution Void

Style: Downtempo

"DJ Olive was raised in Boston, Nova Scotia, Trinidad, Rhode Island and Australia. In '83 he squatted In Amsterdam's punk scene. He received a BFA from SUNY Purchase in '87 studying with Jan Groover and Nick Marsicano. In 1990, after living in Greece, he moved to Brooklyn, becoming an active member of the infamous Williamsburg scene('90-'93). In '91 he co-founded Lalalandia Entertainment Research Corporation. Lalalandia made many of the most memorable Brooklyn warehouse after-hours environments of that period. In 1994, he started up Multipolyomni and We. We's '97 release as is can be considered a classic. We opened for the Orb that spring. Their 3rd release, decentertainment landed them at Barcelona's Sonar '99. Multipolyomni's '97 New York production of the Solar Drama from their opera Quark Soup, projected a massive live view of the sun perpetually rising for 24 hours, broadcast LIVE from 127 consecutive locations as the world turned around once. In 1999, he and Toshio Kajiwara founded Phonomena Audio Arts & Multiples (www.phonomena.org), a weekly event as well as a record label. Also, in '99, he and James Healy started the Agriculture. In 2003, after many years of collaborating with musicians, live and on recordings, Olive finally released his debut solo CD, Bodega, an ass shaking continuous mix tape of rough down home dance party beats. In 2004, Room40, from Brisbane put out his Buoy composition. A 60-min voyage of beat-less warmth Olive call's "a sleeping pill". He continues to compose in his Brooklyn studio, Skin Tone Riddles when he's not playing somewhere like Tasmania." - DJ Olive
