In-Tune: D'Incise

Style: IDM

"Among the artists who combine the aesthetics and sound sculpting of avant-garde with the posse and power of bass-driven urban music, D'incise is clearly one of the most interesting and solids of them all, and his latest release on Zymogen, is only an example of that. Insectes, Attente et Pixels got to be one of the best produced albums I have heard in a while, every sound seems carefully constructed and the way the percussive structures are built, leaves the listener absolutely dazzled and delighted. The first track "Elle Dort" is a mellow and epic opener, with a laid back mood to it that clashes with an intricate progression of broken percussions that maintain a level of tension through the entire track. This album have some hyper, convoluted and frantic peaks on "Contemplatif et pixellise" and "On peut pas tout cacher avec le printemps": both ecstasies of broken sounds and blazing self-constraining shapes, that grow into enormous bursts of chaotic energy. Something that I truly love abut D'incise, is that he has some kind of a hardcore attitude, very strong willed and filled with anger and rage that is very present on "Spectacle" whose heavy rhythm evokes the power and will of a military march. Even though I don't speak French and don't understand what the vocal sample from the beginning says, it's not hard to understand that they are upset about something that has to do with the unfair and miss proportioned economical situation the world lives today. This very powerful and dark record finds a balance with slower and awkwardly built tracks such as "Anticipation D'un Voyage"(probably my favorite tracks of the whole record), "Traumatisme Enfantin" and finally "Insectes diurnes et nocturnes". On those pieces D'incise experiment with unsetting speeds and weird pitching that grow into some really beautiful shapes and motions. Insectes, Attente et Pixels is an exceptional record that a lot of people could clearly enjoy: from the IDM-heads to people more interested in avant garde experimentation." - David Velez / Zymogen

In-Tune: Anamanaguchi

Style: Lo-Fi / Chiptune

"New York's Anamanaguchi finally makes their debut with the driving and dynamic Power Supply. The fully-packed release shows a range of feelings from "putting the final blast into a robot boss" to some more heartfelt tunes - all with hyper-melodic, electric powerpop flavor. It is reccomended that you sing along with the squarewaves. Please enjoy!" - Anamanaguchi / 8bitpeoples

Style: Electronica

"Take Pills Die Sonic Zine Entry #75. Think Kraftwerk, Polygon Window, Analord. Melodic, bouncy, heartwarming, mischivious, playful, pretty, maybe a little lovely sadness in there as well. Andrew will rock you! One of the most prolific artists in the world and it shows. He'll show you how it's done. He's in his own world and doesn't care what's popular these days. He just does what pleases him. Enjoy :) " - Andrew Cauthen / Take Pills Die

In-Tune: 2 Player Guess What

Style: Electronica

"This album is the result of the shared madness that infected two young men as they entered numbers into a grid. The more numbers they entered, the further the madness seeped into the folds of their brains. Coffee did nothing to help. Watching cartoons did even less. Pack after pack of cigarettes was consumed, to no avail. The music would not be stopped." - 2 Player Guess What - Adam Mickelson / Andrew Johnson

In-Tune: Marcoerre

Style: Electronica

"Unfoundsound is stoked to present a young newcomer, Marcoerre, of Northern Italy. On his first release ever, 'Only a Plant Can Help Me' EP, Marcoerre offers four completely fucked-up, dubbed-out tracks suitable for both crazy peak-time hours as well as the dark and dingy afterhours. He is a master at slicing and dicing organic sounds and creating a mishmash of noisy textures that are playful, chaotic and even a little bit disturbing -- meanwhile, maintaining a solid, danceable groove behind dubby, sub-heavy basslines." - Marcoerre / Unfoundsound

In-Tune: Outgate - Mute City EP

Style: Electronica

"It would seem Jani Rantanen is on a productive roll. Under his Outgate pseudonym, he treated us to the Machinae EP back in January, and now he returns with more -though altogether different- intricate tech sounds. Routine number five is called the Mute City EP, and it's a mixed release in a fashion much like Yasahi's when earth fell on the moon EP (flw002). Having described the whole as "a deep, ambient like dip into tech land", Jani starts off at "central" with clicks, pads and noises, and takes us along from there, for a ride that touches down at all points of the compass. Like being lost in the Helsinki subway system, a 117 bpm laidback urban tech journey ensues." - Outgate

In-Tune: Summerhead

Style: Downtempo

"Summerhead's Liberation touches on electronic pop while displaying a clear emphasis on experimentalism. Like Summerhead's previous albums, "Liberation" portrays Holmes' and Svedin's interest in creating something that is uniquely beautiful on top of a beat. Summerhead's influences during this album ranged from Moby, Air, and Faithless to Miles Davis and minimalist composer Michael Nyman. While being fond of instrumentals, Summerhad invites some vocalists to participate on each of their albums. Liberation features vocals from Iberis on the Dido-influenced track "Winterplace", and vocals for "Deer Hunter" and "Drown" are provided by hip hop artist Josiah." - Summerhead

In-Tune: Neutrino

Style: IDM

"With the self-titled follow-up to their successful Mush EP, Quest, Japanese duo, Neutrino (Atsuhiro Murakami and Hideki Kuroda) use an economic approach to rhythm and an acute ear for melody to further establish the group as experts of minimal, late-night grooves. The album is packed with music of depth and beauty that combine the dirty beats of hip-hop, the warm sound of analog, and throw-back production techniques. With artwork by Michiharu Shimoda of the Silent Poets and tracks that are prime examples of the sounds emanating from Tokyo's narcotic downbeat club scene, the album could have only come from Japan." - Neutrino
